Introduction to Video

Video techology is a broad topic covering multiple aspects from the creation through to the player experience.

In reality, there are several basic use cases to accommodate correctly

End to end Video Content Management Pipeline

Essity E2E Delivery

Essity websites are expected to source their video content via the Mediabank platform. Hence the flow is as follows:

  • creator creates the high quality source files including video and subtitles
  • creator uploads the file to Mediabank
  • review process concludes with the Publish Action
  • which sends the files downstream for delivery
  • delivery takes care of producing the correct renditions, and supplies the external urls used by devices, back to Mediabank
  • users with their regular (desktop/mobile) device request the video as part of an Essity website browsing session, which involved the combined experience of
    • webpage referencing both:
    • preferred webplayer
    • video url
  • optionally the video made be avaiable for download

Embedding Content from 3rd Party Site into an Essity Website

Essity websites may source some of their video content via approved social channels. Hence the flow is as follows:

  • creator creates the high quality source files including video and subtitles
  • creator uploads the file to the social channel
  • review process concludes with the Publish Action
  • which makes the files available for delivery
  • delivery takes care of producing the correct renditions, and supplies the external urls used by devices, back to Mediabank
  • users with their regular (desktop/mobile) device request the video as part of an Essity website browsing session, which involved the combined experience of
    • webpage referencing both:
    • preferred webplayer
    • video url
    • with consent granted by end-user to watch a video from such a 3rd party site, within an Essity web (page) experience
  • optionally the video made be avaiable for download
warning

Failing to ensure receipt of an end-users's explicit acceptance to watch video from a 3rd party site, may expose Essity to Privacy and other similar concerns.

If in doubt, ask Privacy.

Delivering Essity Video via 3rd Party Site

Essity video content may be published via approved social channels.

  • users with their regular (desktop/mobile) device request the video as part of a 3rd Party website browsing session
  • optionally the video made be avaiable for download

In this scenario, the Essity video playback is governed under the terms and conditions of the 3rd party website, rather than Essity's terms and conditions.

See the child page for details on each stage of the video pipeline.
